Artist gets inspiration from Gruau

Artist Spotlight: Don Oehl

Don Oehl developed his illustrations through fashion, movement, shapes, and color—all with a wink. His illustrations are an homage to classical fashion illustration and incredibly on-trend. Don effortlessly blends digital process with classical illustration. He gains inspiration from his surroundings as well as from artists like Rene Gruau, Patrick Nagel, Kenneth Paul Block, Dondi White and John Luke Eastman.

In 2011, Don debuted his first solo show at Clic Gallery in New York. The show was a great success. He is currently among the gallery’s stable of artists.

His client list includes Bulgari, Chanel, Elle, W Magazine to name a few.

Rene Gruau

One of the top fashion illustrators ever to appear in magazine covers, advertisements, posters and the like. This page is a celebration to the man. I hope you enjoy the images and information. In addition, I will sell some very rare ads on linen to frame from time to time. So please look for those.

Sincerely, T. D.
